We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior SEO & Client Growth Manager to take ownership of client SEO performance, develop strategic growth plans and play a key role in supporting the continued growth of the agency – an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a blend of technical SEO, client management, business development and strategic thinking.
The Role
What you’ll own.
As Senior SEO & Client Growth Manager, you will be responsible for managing and growing the organic performance of a portfolio of clients. You will lead SEO strategy, oversee implementation, provide client reporting and recommendations, and collaborate closely with developers, content creators and external partners. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, support new business opportunities and help ensure every campaign is delivering measurable results.
What you’ll do
Key responsibilities.
SEO Strategy & Performance
- Develop and execute SEO strategies to improve rankings, organic traffic and conversions.
- Conduct keyword research and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.
- Monitor campaign performance and make data-driven recommendations.
- Produce monthly SEO reports and present findings to clients.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, algorithm updates and SEO best practices.
- Work with external SEO partners and suppliers to ensure campaigns are delivered effectively.
Technical SEO
- Conduct technical SEO audits and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Optimise website structure, internal linking, indexing and crawlability.
- Work alongside development teams to implement SEO recommendations.
- Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals and website performance.
- Implement structured data and technical SEO best practices.
On-Page SEO
- Optimise website content, metadata, headings and landing pages.
- Create SEO content briefs and work alongside content teams to deliver high-quality content.
- Support local SEO initiatives, including Google Business Profile optimisation.
- Ensure websites follow SEO best practices across WordPress and other CMS platforms.
Off-Page SEO & Link Building
- Develop and manage link-building campaigns.
- Identify backlink opportunities and outreach strategies.
- Monitor backlink profiles and competitor activity.
- Support digital PR and authority-building initiatives.
Client Management & Relationship Building
- Act as a key point of contact for SEO clients.
- Lead client meetings, strategy sessions and performance reviews.
- Build strong relationships with clients and understand their business objectives.
- Communicate recommendations clearly and confidently.
- Ensure client campaigns remain aligned with agreed goals and KPIs.
- Provide a high level of service and proactively identify opportunities to improve client performance.
Ownership & Continuous Improvement
- Take ownership of client SEO performance and proactively identify opportunities for growth.
- Monitor client accounts to ensure campaigns remain on track and deliver measurable results.
- Identify risks, challenges and opportunities before they become issues.
- Continually improve internal SEO processes, reporting and workflows.
- Help create scalable systems and best practices across the agency.
Business Development & Pitch Support
- Support new business opportunities through SEO audits and strategic recommendations.
- Attend prospect meetings and pitches where required.
- Present SEO strategies and opportunities to prospective clients.
- Assist with proposals, case studies and supporting sales materials.
- Help identify opportunities to grow existing client accounts.
- Contribute ideas that improve client retention, profitability and agency growth.
Commercial Awareness
- Understand client business objectives and align SEO strategies with commercial goals.
- Identify opportunities to expand services and increase client value.
- Support account growth through strategic recommendations and performance improvements.
- Contribute to the overall success and profitability of the agency.
Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, content teams, PPC specialists and account managers.
- Contribute ideas that improve agency processes and service delivery.
- Support the wider team with SEO knowledge and best practice guidance.
Industry Events & Networking
- Attend client meetings, networking events, exhibitions and industry conferences when required.
- Represent Amax Marketing professionally at industry events and client-facing activities.
AI & Emerging Search Technologies
- Utilise AI tools and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, research and content workflows.
- Stay informed on developments within search, AI and digital marketing.
- Identify innovative ways to improve campaign performance and service delivery.
What you’ll need
Skills & experience.
Essential
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in SEO, preferably within an agency environment.
- Strong understanding of technical SEO, on-page SEO and link building.
- Experience using Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, SEMrush and/or Ahrefs.
- Proven track record of improving rankings, organic traffic and conversions.
- Experience managing multiple client accounts.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- WordPress experience.
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Confidence presenting to clients, stakeholders and prospective clients.
Desirable
- PPC experience.
- HubSpot experience.
- UX/CRO knowledge.
- Experience within B2B or local service-based industries.
- Experience supporting pitches and business development activities.
- Understanding of AI-assisted content and SEO workflows.
