FAQ

The questions we get asked.

Honest answers about pricing, contracts, results, and how we work. No marketing-speak. If your question is not here, just ask.

Getting started

How do I know if Amax is the right fit for us?

Easiest way: take the free SEO audit. We will look at your site, your competitors, and your sector, and tell you straight whether we can add value or whether someone else fits better. No pressure, no hard sell.

What do you need from us to get started?

Not much. Read-only or admin access to your website, Google Analytics, Search Console and any ad accounts, plus 30 minutes to tell us your goals and target areas. If you do not have some of those set up, we will sort it. We do the heavy lifting from there.

What does the first month look like?

Discovery call (30 minutes), full audit (technical SEO, content, competitors, conversion), 90-day plan with priorities and KPIs, kickoff meeting, then we start. You will know exactly what we are doing and why before any work begins.

We have been let down by an agency before. Why is this different?

Most agency horror stories come down to three things: juniors doing the work, vanity reports, and contracts you cannot leave. We run the opposite way: senior in-house people on your account, reporting you can actually read, and no long lock-ins. If we are not earning our fee, you can go.

Services and sectors

What services do you offer?

Everything that gets you found and converts, all in-house: SEO (technical, on-page, content, digital PR and local), Google and Meta ads (search, shopping and display), web design and development (WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce and bespoke builds), social media, video and drone, and AI search optimisation. Nothing is outsourced.

Can we start with just one service, or is it all bundled?

Start with one. Each service stands on its own, so pick the one that solves your biggest bottleneck. They compound when combined, but we will never force a bundle. If one channel is enough, we will tell you.

Do you build websites as well as market them?

Yes. We have an in-house web team that designs and builds on WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce and custom platforms, plus ongoing care plans. A lot of our SEO and conversion gains come from fixing the website itself, so it helps that we do both.

Do you only work with self-storage clients?

No. Self-storage is a sector specialism. We are particularly good at it because we understand the operational and search dynamics. But our day-to-day work spans construction, fire safety, b2b services, e-commerce, and consumer brands. If we know your sector well we will say so. If we do not, we will say that too.

Pricing and contracts

How much does SEO cost?

Most of our SEO retainers sit between 1,500 and 6,000 pounds per month, depending on competitiveness, scope (technical only vs full content programme), and whether you need ongoing link building. We will quote a real number after the audit, never before.

What is included in a retainer?

Strategy, the agreed work for that month, a senior point of contact, your regular review meeting, and reporting. No surprise line items. If something falls outside the agreed scope, we quote it before doing it, so you are never billed for work you did not approve.

Are there long lock-ins?

No 12-month contracts. We work on renewable terms after an initial 90-day commitment (which exists because SEO and PPC need at least 90 days to show signal). If we are not earning the spend, you should be able to leave, and we believe that.

Do you charge for audits?

No. The initial audit is free, takes us about an hour of work, and you keep the report whether we end up working together or not. We are confident enough in the value to absorb that cost.

Working together

Who will I actually be working with?

Senior people. Every Amax client has a senior strategist as their main contact, not an account manager who passes everything to a junior. Specialists (technical SEO, content, paid, dev) come in as needed, but you have one senior person who owns your account end-to-end.

Where is your team based?

In the UK, in-house. The people planning your strategy are the same people doing the work. Nothing is offshored or sold on to a third party, and you are welcome to come and meet us.

How often do we meet?

Monthly review by default. We walk through what was done, what worked, what did not, and the plan for the next 30 days. Some clients prefer fortnightly check-ins; for some, quarterly is enough. We adapt to your rhythm.

How do you report on results?

A monthly report you can actually read. KPIs that matter (rankings, traffic, leads, revenue), what changed and why, and the next 30 days plan. Plus a live Looker Studio dashboard if you want one. No 50-slide vanity decks.

Results and expectations

How quickly will we see results?

Honest answer: PPC produces visible leads inside 1 to 2 weeks once campaigns are tuned. SEO needs 90 days to start moving and 6 or more months to compound meaningfully. Anyone promising 30-day SEO miracles is selling you something else.

How do you measure success?

Against the KPIs we agree up front: leads, revenue, qualified traffic and rankings that matter to your business, tied to real outcomes. We set the targets together at kickoff, so the question of whether it is working always has a clear answer.

What if it is not working?

We tell you. The monthly review is for that, not just celebrating wins. If a strategy is underperforming we change it. If we genuinely cannot move the needle (rare, but it happens), we say so and you walk away with the work we have done. We would rather lose a client than waste their money.

Can you guarantee a number 1 ranking?

No. Anyone who guarantees specific rankings is either lying or about to lie. Google does not let agencies bid for placements, and rankings depend on hundreds of factors, many outside any agency control. What we can guarantee: better technical health, more relevant content, more authority signals, and proper measurement so you know where the money is going.

Data and ownership

Do we own our accounts, data and content?

Always. Your website, Google Ads, Analytics, Search Console and every piece of content we produce belong to you, set up in your name. We work inside your accounts, not behind a curtain.

What happens to our accounts if we leave?

You keep everything. After the initial 90 days we work on rolling terms, so you give notice and walk away with all your accounts, access and the work done to date. No hostage situations.
