Who are Admirals Yard?
Admirals Yard is a self-storage containment company started in 1998. They have established four distinct sites across the UK in Bristol, Leeds, Sheffield, and Slough. They offer a range of self-storage facilities for individuals, businesses, and domestic and private use, with container sizes from 35 sq. ft to 160 sq. ft.
The problem we walked into.
Admirals Yard had previously relied on PPC — a popular technique in the industry but an expensive one. This time round they wanted to go through the organic SEO route to bring in more leads, awareness and traffic across all four locations. Goals: increase traffic, drive new keyword rankings, reduce bounce rate, and move hosting + CMS to a stronger, more future-proof platform.
Our approach.
A multi-location local SEO strategy starting February 2023 — built around the four sites and the keywords that drive enquiries in each.
Keyword research + technical audit
Identified the most lucrative keywords for each location and ran a full technical SEO audit to prioritise on-site fixes.
On-page SEO for location pages
Ensured all on-page content was optimised with the right keywords, headers, and most importantly the right locations. Added missing meta data, social meta data, header tags.
Google My Business optimisation
Location is everything in self-storage. Reviewed and optimised each GMB profile to make sure reviews were accurate, profiles were set to the right locations and postal codes, and the four sites were optimised individually.
Internal + external linking
Improved internal linking to distribute link equity and help search engines understand the site structure. Added strategic external links for credibility and authority signals.
Guest posting + link building + citations
Consistent acquisition of relevant backlinks plus consistent NAP citations across directories — both heavyweight ranking factors for local self-storage.
New CMS + development work
Migrated the site to Elementor Pro — a stronger, more streamlined, future-proof CMS. Built new pages including a calculator page. Optimised for speed.
A long-term organic strategy across four locations — moving them away from paid dependence and toward sustainable lead generation.
